Dana S. Gloor is a Partner and leads the Firm’s Baltimore office.  Her practice focuses on representation of securities firms, investment advisory firms and hedge funds, and financial professionals including broker-dealer representatives, investment advisors, financial planners and CPAs.  She defends civil litigation and arbitration cases, class actions, and employment matters.  She also conducts internal investigations, and represents clients in investigations and enforcement matters brought by the SEC, FINRA and State regulators.  She has experience in a wide variety of commercial litigation and in general corporate matters.

Before joining Baritz & Colman, Ms. Gloor served as in-house Counsel to TD Ameritrade.  She represented the company in complex litigation and arbitration matters, including those involving multiple parties and regulatory implications. 

From 2006 to 2008, Ms. Gloor was Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Ferris, Baker Watts, Inc., where she served as principal legal counsel to the firm, managed the Compliance, Internal Audit and Risk Management departments, and was a member of the firm’s Board of Directors.  As General Counsel, Ms. Gloor managed all litigation and arbitrations, and participated in managing the firm’s successful response to a major regulatory investigation conducted in tandem by the SEC and Department of Justice.  She also provided the in-house legal representation to the firm in connection with its acquisition by the American broker-dealer subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Canada.

For the five years prior to her appointment as General Counsel, Ms. Gloor served as Associate General Counsel of Ferris, Baker Watts.  She defended the firm in hundreds of matters, including commercial and employment litigation, securities arbitrations and regulatory matters, and advised on regulatory compliance and employment issues.

Ms. Gloor was a Partner in the Litigation Department at Shapiro, Sher, Guinot & Sandler before crossing Charles Street to work for Ferris, Baker Watts.  At Shapiro Sher, Ms. Gloor represented businesses and individuals in commercial litigation and other matters.

Ms. Gloor graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland, where she was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa.  She graduated with honors from the University of Maryland School of Law.  In law school, she served as Associate Editor of The Business Lawyer, which at the time was a joint publication of the American Bar Association and the School of Law.  She is a member of the Order of the Coif.

Recently, Ms. Gloor was elected as a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a highly selective, invitation-only honorary society of trial lawyers, comprised of fewer than one-half of 1% of American lawyers.

She is admitted to the bars of Maryland and the District of Columbia, and is admitted to practice before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth and District of Columbia Circuits and the United States District Courts for the Districts of Maryland and Columbia.
